Woman air-lifted to Dartmouth after West Pawlet crash

WEST PAWLET — A one-car rollover on Route 153 in West Pawlet sent one woman to the hospital.

Vermont State Police said Shelia Johnson, 57, of Poultney was driving her 2008 Ford Focus on Route 153 in West Pawlet when she lost control of her vehicle.

The crash happened about 10:20 a.m. March 21 just north of the West Pawlet-Rupert line.

Police said the vehicle left the roadway, hit a pole and became airborne.

Johnson's vehicle ended up in a field down an embankment.

Firefighters had to extricate Johnson from the vehicle and a Granville (N.Y.) ambulance transported her to Granville where she was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

The crash is still under investigation, police said.
