Two charged with DUI over the weekend

MANCHESTER — Two individuals were charged with driving under the influence in the region over Columbus Day weekend.

Mary H. Sullivan, 74, of River Vale, N.J., was stopped by Vermont State Police Trooper Raymond Witkowski just before 10 p.m. on Saturday night, state police said.

Sullivan was pulled over on Stratton Mountain Rd. in Winhall after, according to state police, she was observed making a turn without signaling and driving with a defective license plate light.

Police said they administered field sobriety exercises and placed Sullivan under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. She was transported to the Winhall Police Department and was issued a citation to appear before the Bennington County Superior Court on Monday, Oct. 30 to answer the charge of driving under the influence.

Just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning, state police said, Trooper Justin Walker pulled over Laci M. Walsh of Arlington on Sunderland Hill Road near McKee Road in Sunderland for a traffic infraction.

Police said Walsh signs of impairment during field sobriety exercises and was transported to the Shaftsbury Barracks for further testing. She was issued a citation to appear in the Bennington County Superior Court's Criminal Division on Monday, Oct. 23 to answer to the charge of driving under the influence.
