The Regional All-Stars Gala is coming soon
We're less than two months out from the second annual Regional All-Stars Gala and things are heating up as the athletes and coaches are revealed!
So far, 18 fall and 26 winter athletes and coaches have been announced for the event that will be held at Bennington College's Greenwell Auditorium on Tuesday, June 26 at 6 p.m.
Each week, we've revealed our top athletes and coaches of the year, leading up to the Regional All Stars Gala, presented by sponsors Bennington Subaru, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Bennington College and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians.
The keynote speaker of the event is 8-time X-Games gold medalist Nate Holland.
"I am honored to join the Bennington Banner and Manchester Journal's Regional Sports Awards," Holland said. "Youth are our future, and I'm excited to share some of my experiences in achieving athletic success through hard work and dedication while touching on failures within my Olympic and X Games Snowboard career."
"From the sports reporters to this newspaper's owners, everyone here at the Banner and Journal is excited and proud to place Bennington County's finest student-athletes and coaches in the spotlight on June 26," said Fredric D. Rutberg, publisher and president of the newspapers. "This gala is one part — a very special part — of our efforts to highlight the extraordinary youth of the region."
Making the event possible, Bennington Subaru and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center have signed on as the Regional All-Stars title sponsors.
"Bennington Subaru is proud to sponsor the Bennington Banner and Manchester Journal Regional All Star Gala again this year," said Bennington Subaru owner Abel Toll. "Highlighting the best of the best of our student-athletes, their accomplishments in sports and academics was astounding. At Bennington Subaru we believe in our community and hope that there will be more events like this one in the future."
Athletes and coaches will be honored in 21 interscholastic sports sanctioned by the governing bodies of Vermont and New York state high school sports.
The honors won't stop at athletic achievement. The student athletes and coaches in attendance are also finalists for special awards for courage, perseverance and leadership.
In addition to athletes and coaches of the year, honors for boys' and girls' sports awards will be given for remarkable comeback stories, unsung heroes who made their teams' success possible, and ambassadors whose effort and dedication promoted a positive reputation for their school and their teammates.
Those athletes and coaches get to attend the ticketed dinner event for free, get recognized on stage for their sporting achievements, and get to meet and greet the evening's honored guest.
For athletes and coaches to receive their free ticket, they have to go to tinyurl.com/NENIgala. Tickets for the general public are also there and cost $35, so get them quickly because they'll sell out!
