Second Chance Animal Center announces restaurant event
ARLINGTON — Second Chance Animal Center announces a special fundraising campaign featuring area restaurants.
The first venue scheduled for 2020 is Ye Olde Tavern in Manchester Center on Thursday, Jan. 23.
"Second Chance is honored to partner with several restaurants in our region to help raise funds for the shelter," said Cathi Comar, Second Chance's executive director. "Last fall we approached five different restaurants within our tri-state service area, and all five quickly replied 'YES.' Area businesses recognize that Second Chance has been providing important animal care services and programs for over 60 years and by supporting The Grateful Fed, these restaurants know that they are helping the community."
Ye Olde Tavern is located at 5183 Main Street in Manchester Center, and they are recognized for serving hearty New England and Continental dishes.
Ye Olde Tavern is a great supporter of local animal organizations, including the Manchester Dog Park, and will donate 50 percent of the evening's dinner proceeds to Second Chance.
Reservations are suggested. Please contact the restaurant at 802-362-0611.
Proceeds from The Grateful Fed will benefit Second Chance's veterinary care and medical treatment program. Every companion animal who enters the shelter (more than 700 annually) undergoes a health evaluation by staff veterinarians, and all animals also receive appropriate vaccinations, blood work and dental checks. Depending on test results and health evaluations, some animals undergo additional medical treatment before they can be made available for adoption. The largest veterinary expense to the shelter is the approximately 400 spay/neuter surgeries that are performed on the shelter animals. Funds from this program are also allocated for emergency veterinary care provided by area veterinarians and for specialty services and diagnostics provided to animals who are found to have more advanced illnesses. Second Chance's goal is to place healthy animals into loving forever homes.
The Grateful Fed campaign launched in November 2019 with The Publyk House in Bennington. Upcoming restaurant venues include: The Grille at Mount Anthony Country Club in Bennington (dinner service on Feb. 5); Zoey's Double Hex in Manchester Center (lunch and dinner services on April 8, 15, 22, and 29); and Brown's Brewing Company's Walloomsac Taproom and Brewery in North Hoosick, New York, sometime this spring.
For upcoming dates, call the shelter or check our website or Facebook page.
