Refuse to Use Kick Off set

MANCHESTER - The Refuse to Use Kick Off is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28 at Manchester Elementary Middle School. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. for sign in. The event starts promptly at 1 p.m.

The Collaborative's Refuse to Use (RTU) program focuses on youth substance use prevention education and is in partnership with Stratton Mountain Resort, Riley Rink at Hunter Park, Viking Nordic Center and The Dorset Theatre. Students in grades 7-12 from Flood Brook School, The Mountain School at Winhall, The Dorset School, Long Trail School, Manchester Elementary and Middle School, Maple Street School and Burr and Burton Academy are welcome to participate.

Students participating in RTU take a pledge to attend five educational events and remain substance free. Parents or guardians of the student take a pledge to attend two events and support their student. Students who meet all the requirements of the RTU program choose a season pass to Stratton Mountain Ski Resort, Reilly Rink at Hunter Park or Viking Nordic as an incentive. Participants who have successfully completed the program also receive a season's pass to the Dorset Theatre Festival.

This year's new RTU Kick Off format is participant driven, engaging and fun.

Students participating in RTU are required to attend the Kick Off with a parent or guardian. For program and registration details, go, contact an RTU representative at the school the student is attending or contact The Collaborative 824-4200 or
