Purim celebration to be held at ICM

MANCHESTER >> All are invited to join people of all ages in celebrating Purim. Wear a fun costume on Friday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m. and come to Israel Congregation of Manchester (ICM) located at 6025 Main Street, Manchester Center. A parade will be held and know a merry time for had by all.

Purim celebrates the story in the Book of Esther when an evil man made a plan to destroy all of the Jews, only to be defeated by Queen Esther and the Jews of Shushan, leading the Jews to great celebration. "The Whole Megillah (Not)" will be read and noisemakers provided to drown out the name of the evil man when it is said.

Following the reading of Esther, all are invited to the Communal Table dinner and asked to bring a vegetarian dish to share. During dinner, renowned Klezmer musicians, "The Hamiltunes Trio" will add dance and song to the evening. Trombonist Mark Hamilton will be accompanied by Ilene Stahl on clarinet and Roberto Cassan on accordion. We'll complete the evening eating hamentaschen, the famous Purim triangle cookie, which will be baked in ICM's kitchen.
