Long Pond Studio
Visual artists Virginia Bradley (www.virginiabradley.com), Chris Malcomson (www.chrismalcomson.com) and William Casper(www.williamcaspersclptures.com) will present their latest works at 234 Long Pond Road, Great Barrington. The artists will discuss their concepts and process with the public. The event is part of Guild of Berkshire Artists Open Studios, this is the last Open Studio for the 2019 season.
Bradley's abstract painting process is informed by alchemy and the performative process of painting. She is a maker, and the studio is her laboratory. The alchemical process in the work is activated by the physical activity of pouring, sanding, drawing, building and subtracting into and onto the painting surfaces in many layers.
Malcomson's watercolor landscapes and abstract oil paintings are heavily influenced by Jungian and Transpersonal psychology, the poet Rumi, and icons. Each of his paintings showcases spatial balance and harmony, as well as layered colors and pure geometric forms that immerse the viewer in a rich visual realm. Malcomson ultimately seeks to remind us of the mythological resonance present in our daily lives.
Casper is a contemporary figurative sculptor creating original artworks using both models and inspiration from life observation. HIs goal is to capture movement, emotion and intimacy through textured surfaces and torso angles. Shadows and surface treatment create dynamic energy in each piece.
