Northshire welcomes Wimpy Kid author
MANCHESTER — The Wimpy Kid himself will be in Manchester on Aug. 10 giving kids and their parents the chance to meet one of the most popular authors in youth literature.
Jeff Kinney's Awesome Friendly Socially Distant Bus Tour rolls into Manchester at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Northshire Bookstore.
Kinney, a New York Times No. 1 bestselling author, is a six-time Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award winner for Favorite Book for his Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. He has been named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People in the World.
Tickets to the event are required and entitles the holder to a signed copy of "Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Adventure" and a chance to get a photo for one child and one adult.
Masks are required for everyone older than 2 years of age and social distancing will be maintained.
Books will be pre-signed and cannot be personalized. Books from home cannot be brought to the event but signed copies of other books will be available.
The new book presents Rowley Jefferson in an adventure of epic proportions with his best friend, Garg the Barbarian, as they leave the safety of their village and embark on a quest to save Roland's mom from the White Warlock. Will our heroes survive?
Kinney was inspired to re-imagine the traditional book tour and is sympathetic of the challenges being faced by families and small businesses.
The Northshire Bookstore is one of Kinney's stops on an east coast tour of independent bookstores
Along the way, he is stopping to surprise children of essential workers and kids who have been affected by COVID-19 with signed books and Wimpy Kid prizes.
