MANCHESTER CENTER — The company that publishes Vermont Magazine, Stratton Magazine and Manchester Life Magazine has acquired the Vermont News Guide.

Old Mill Road Media, based in East Arlington, announced it was adding the weekly paper to "its family of publications" in the News Guide's Sept. 10 issue.

It "plans on packaging its subscriptions and advertising opportunities in order to assist businesses in communicating their messages statewide," according to the announcement.

Joshua Sherman, a principal of Old Mill Road Media, now appears on the News Guide's masthead as its publisher. In a phone interview Monday, he confirmed that Old Mill Road Media purchased the News Guide but declined to specify a price.

"We believe connecting the Vermont News Guide with our current publications will benefit both our readers and advertisers," Sherman said in the announcement.

Martin Hersam, CEO of Hersam Acorn Newspapers, which previously published the News Guide, could not be reached for comment. In the News Guide's announcement, Hersam called the acquisition "an exciting new chapter" for existing staff "and this storied publication."

The publication "currently reaches over 15,000 readers," according to the announcement. Its employees "are joining the existing team" at Old Mill Road Media.

The masthead of the Sept. 10 issue, compared with the previous week's issue, includes nine new names and titles, including Marcia Lissak as CEO.
