Nature journaling workshop set at Merck

RUPERT — A chance to explore, observe and document phenomena of the natural world will be offered in a nature-journaling workshop hosted by Merck Forest & Farmland Center on Saturday, Sept. 19, from noon to 3:30 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 20. A discussion of the background and basic techniques of nature journaling will begin the program.

After lunch, which participants are requested to bring, a number of nature journaling exercises will be explored using the Northern Taconic landscape to make observations and document findings.

A $25 fee includes all materials (a sketchbook, colored pencils, regular pencils, eraser and sharpener). Participants may bring writing tools, if preferred.

Those attending should dress in layers, as weather conditions are cooler than in the valley. Participants will be notified early Saturday morning if a shift to Sunday due to wet weather conditions becomes necessary.

Safety procedures as recommended by the State of Vermont regarding COVID-19 will be followed. Group size is limited; early registration is recommended:
