Manchester wraps up VSBL season

MANCHESTER — The Manchester VSBL squad's season has come to an end after a 3-1 loss to No. 1 S.D. Ireland on July 31 in a quarterfinal contest.

No. 9 Manchester pulled off a 6-5 upset win over No. 8 Bellows Falls on Thursday night to advance to the quarterfinal match up.

In Friday's loss to S.D. Ireland, Manchester was able to keep it close, as the game was tied 1-1 in the fifth. A wild pitch scored what proved to be the winning run, and another run crossed the plate on a balk.

Joey McCoy had a strong game for Manchester, starting on the mound and going five innings. He also was the team's best bat on the afternoon, tallying two hits.

Manchester finishes the VSBL season with an overall record of 7-10.

Bennington loses playdown to Colchester

COLCHESTER— Bennington's season ended with a 5-3 loss to No. 5 Colchester on July 30. The No. 12 Bennington team put up a fight, led by Ian Benner's two RBI performance. Luc Trombley also had a solid game, going 1-4 and scoring twice.

Colchester was able to tag Bennington for three runs in the sixth inning, a turning point in the game. Bennington went 3-15 in VSBL play in 2020.

Southshire Soccer cancels 2020 season.

It is with great disappointment that Southshire Soccer has decided to cancel its 2020 season for both in-house and travel teams, Kindergarten through sixth grade. Lower registration numbers as well as many surrounding towns deciding to cancel their seasons played a crucial part in coming to this difficult decision.
