Barbershop quartet to perform at Vets home

BENNINGTON — The Dorset Barbecue Quartet, a barbershop quartet, will perform at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Vermont Veterans' Home in Bennington.

The performance is fully paid through donations and is free and open to the public, according to organizer Garry DuFour of Dorset.

DuFour said the performance is sponsored by Andrew Tarantino of VermontVacation-Rentals.com and anonymous sponsor.

Col. Al Faxon, chief operating officer of the home, said the residents look forward to the performances and they're always well attended.

Manchester library announces hours

Manchester Community Library will close at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 for the 6 p.m. performance of "An Evening of Holiday Music" with the Taconic Chamber Players.

The Library will be closed all day on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day.

It will close at 2 p.m. on New Year's Eve and be closed all day on New Year's Day.

Carolers needed for holiday food deliveries

DORSET — A Dorset man is looking for volunteers to sing Christmas carols as donated meals are delivered the afternoon of Christmas eve.

Volunteers will be delivering gourmet Christmas dinners to folks who may not otherwise get a meal and Garry DuFour wants to bring a little holiday cheer along with the food.

Carolers would meet in Pawlet at 3:15 p.m. and should expect to spend a couple of hours going to multiple houses. Carols will be sung as the group approaches the house and the food is delivered with only a song or two per delivery.

The deliveries will be in the Dorset and surrounding area.

The effort will be completed in time for volunteers to join their regular Christmas Eve activities.
