Martin Luther King service set

The Interfaith Council of the Northshire will host a community-wide Martin Luther King worship service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19.

The Service will take place in the sanctuary at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert, located at 143 Church St. in Dorset.

The Rev. James H. Gray will deliver a message on The Eugenics Movement in Vermont and what it says to us in 2020.

Tom Salmon will lead the Interfaith Choir.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Democrats hold election kickoff bash

MANCHESTER — All Bennington County and neighboring Democrats are invited to attend a 2020 Election Kickoff Bash on Sunday, Jan. 26 from 6-9 p.m. at the Wilburton Inn in Manchester.

The evening will provide an opportunity to meet and hear from some of the state's top elected officials, including Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman, Senate President Pro Tem Tim Ashe, Senate Majority Leader Becca Balint, House Majority Leader Jill Krowinski and Democratic gubernatorial candidate and former Vermont Secretary of Education Rebecca Holcombe.

The event will also feature live music by The Pranksters, Vermont's own local folk/Americana/bluegrass band.

Guests are encouraged to bring a dish for potluck and a small donation to help defray the costs of the event. The Wilburton Inn will provide a cash bar for beer and wine.
