Letters: James is an articulate leader
To the Editor:Kathleen James came to my attention after the 2016 election, emerging as an articulate leader in the Northshire for values I believe in as a Democrat. She has reached out to my Arlington neighbors as well as those in Sunderland, Sandgate and Manchester in her desire to represent us and all Vermonters in the State House.I remember when Gov. Madeleine Kunin gave me the proverbial "tap on the shoulder" encouraging me to run for the Vermont State Senate in the late 1980s. I did so for many of the same reasons Kathleen James wants to represent us today: affordable healthcare and housing, livable wages, paid family leave and affordable childcare, support for schools and school choice, expansion of mental health services, honoring diversity, and understanding the urgency to maintain a clean environment.Vermont Rep. Peter Welch said, "Our democracy is at stake in this coming election." Kathleen James will protect our democracy and collaborate effectively with other representatives as well as all of us to protect and enhance our rights as Vermonters.
