Letter: Ruffa served Northshire Grows well

To the Editor:For five years, Northshire Grows has forged connections among food businesses, farmers, institutional purchasers, educators and consumers of all stripes in Bennington County and beyond. We, the board of Northshire Grows, Inc., recognize the dedication of Liz Ruffa, whose commitment to growing the farm and food community and economy in the Northshire is unquestionable and infectious. Under Liz's leadership, Northshire Grows has supported a wide range of farm-to-school efforts in the region, connecting local kids and school personnel to area farms through the classroom, the cafeteria, and the community. Northshire Grows has been a tireless advocate for growing food businesses and connecting them to consumers. Most publicly, Northshire Grows has been a key convener, gathering the sector's chief movers and shakers, as well as the public, to encourage collaboration and creative problem-solving. The success of Northshire Grows has been to raise awareness about and to engage so many in this important work - work that continues in the region under the care of many farm and food businesses and working-lands organizations. Our thanks to the community for embracing the role of Northshire Grows in recent years and to Liz Ruffa for her leadership of the effort.
