Letter: Marthage puts public safety first

To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Erica Marthage's bid for re-election as Bennington County State's Attorney.

A few years ago, my family and I were victims of ongoing crime at our home. Our personal safety and property were at risk. As the State's Attorney in charge of the

prosecution of the individual, Erica was very attentive to the situation. She was also thoughtful to our needs for personal safety. Erica was instrumental in bringing the matter to a fair and safe result.

Bennington County needs a State's Attorney who is fair-minded and who will also protect the public by prosecuting violent crime to the fullest extent of the law. I am confident that Erica will not allow questionable statewide criminal justice statistics to dictate how Bennington County's chief law enforcement office should be run. She will put the public safety first.

I have also had the privilege of serving Vermont as an attorney for the past 25 years. In that capacity, I have worked with Erica in both the criminal justice system and on civil matters. Based on my professional experiences with Erica, I support her re-election campaign without hesitation.
