Letter: Make masks mandatory

To the editor:

Is our Vermont Republican Gov. Phil Scott trying to kill us all off one by one? His latest policy regarding the coronavirus is appalling. Telling the public here in Vermont that it is not required for them to wear a face mask in public, in stores, etc. is a deadly decision.

The average Vermonter will do what the governor tells them to do. That means mandating wearing a protective mask in public is required to stop the virus from spreading. This type of backing off of tough decisions is typical of most politicians. But we need a strong governor, not a weak one. Getting business started safely is what is needed, not careless policy decisions.

This one needs to be fixed right away.

Thomas W. King,
