Letter: Keefe effective when it mattered

To the Editor:

I've known Brian Keefe for several years as he coached our daughters in various youth sports, and at work on behalf of the town of Manchester as chair of the Planning Commission. Brian has always done a great job interacting and connecting with people of all age groups which is a trait that serves him well in Montpelier.

This past year our company felt a risk from a poorly drafted bill that could have done great harm to Vermont's important recreation industry. I contacted our Montpelier representatives about the bill and Brian immediately responded back to me. Brian took the time to listen to my concerns and to understand the complex details of the issue.

During the course of the ensuing legislative process Brian kept me posted on the status of the bill and we helped each other understand how we might best ensure a positive outcome given the momentum behind the bill. In the end, and with Brian's help, we avoided a bad outcome.

Brian's prompt response, his ability to grasp the essence of complex issues and his experience with the legislative process served us well in this case. Additionally and critically, it served the interests of our employees and customers as well as those involved with the local economy.

I plan to vote for Brian Keefe so that he might continue to serve on our behalf. His experience and balanced approach to government is much needed in Montpelier.
