Letter: Browning thanks voters
To the editor: I write to thank the voters of Arlington, Manchester, Sandgate and Sunderland for re-electing me as a state representative. I will do everything that I can to justify your faith in me.As I look forward to all the pressing issues that will face the Legislature, I hold fast to certain rules for guidance. One is that it is essential to find the right balance of rights and responsibilities - we are often more eager to assert our rights than to fulfill our responsibilities. Another is that all state policies must be based on reality rather than political rhetoric. In terms of bills that I will introduce, I will be concentrating on education finance reform and environmental protection. A starting point for the first will be to remove from the Education Fund the costs of any program or subsidy that does not fund pre K through 12 education so that property tax rates can be reduced. For environmental protection, I will be working to reform provisions within our current tax system that function to subsidize activities that pollute our air and water. The more I hear from you the better I can serve you. Contact me at email@example.com or through my website www.cynthiabrowning.com or at 802-375-9019. I will post updates on the website and on Facebook, and I hope to submit regular columns to the newspapers. I hope to do an email newsletter as well - let me know if you would like that.Until the end of this year, I will continue to hold my legislative office hours every Saturday from 8 to 9:30 at Chauncey's Restaurant in Arlington, excepting Saturday, Dec. 1, when I must go to Montpelier for legislative meetings. Beginning in January, I will probably be adding office hours in Manchester as well. I will post the new schedule, but feel free to contact me to check at any time.Rep. Cynthia BrowningArlington
