Dorset Library features next artist

DORSET — An opening reception for Anharad Llewelyn, the featured artist of the month for March at the Dorset Library, will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Refreshments will be served and all works are for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the library.

Llewelyn's artwork expresses her love of being outdoors, and gathering family and friends in the kitchen. She works mostly in acrylic, pastel, charcoal, and mixed media. Most recently Llewelyn launched into the medium of collage painting which combines acrylic paint and a variety of patterned papers. Often she uses hand written letters and pages from her journal to enhance the work and add another element of her life into the work. This style of mixed media has allowed for more freedom of expression as it creates a more abstract view of the subject matter.

Llewelyn moved to the Northshire community in 1984 where she spent many years as an innkeeper, sign painter, and art teacher while raising three children. She has been an art teacher at Long Trail School for 10 years, and also teaches adult and children's art programs in the community.

The library is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. Call 802-867-5774 for more information.
