Busy final weekend for Taconic Music


MANCHESTER — Taconic Music's final concert of its inaugural 2017 summer festival will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 16 at Burr and Burton Academy's Riley Center. The program features J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, as well as Dvo k's String Quintet No. 3 in E-flat Major and Mendelssohn's Piano Sextet in D Major. Scheduled to perform along with student musicians from Taconic's Chamber Music Intensive are Heather Braun-Bakken and Joana Genova, violins; Amadi Azikiwe & Ariel Rudiakov, violas; Sophie Shao, cello, and special guests Steven Moran, double bass; Keiko Sekino, piano. Admission is $25 for adults and $10 for students and children.That concert caps a busy weekend for Taconic Music, as two events are planned for Saturday. The festival will host its "NextGen Concert II" at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Riley Center. The program features the Sibelius String Quartet in D Minor, Shostakovich's String Quartet No.10 in A-flat Major, Mozart's String Quartet No. 21 in D Major, and Brahms' Piano Quintet in F Minor. Scheduled to perform are Joohyun Lee, Jingting Liu, Heather Munch and Cami Sylvia, violins; Zoe Loversky and Gavon Peck, violas; Yeil Park and Mark Serkin, celli; Dan Sato, piano. Admission is $10 at the door, with kids admitted free.Also, an open dress rehearsal for Sunday's concert will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., also at the Riley Center. Admission is $10 at the door for adults and free for students and children (though it is not recommended for children under 6).
