Break-in and burglaries reported at Bromley Village

PERU -- State Police are reporting that two occupied dwellings at the Birches of Bromley Village were broken into sometime during the night of Jan. 4-5, while the occupants were there.

Both families of the condos described being woken up during the night and discovered the front door was left open and evidence of snow within the condo indicating the subject or subjects had entered their residence while they were asleep. In both incidents items were taken that were close to the entry door, according to the police.

One resident owner observed that their dome light in the vehicle was on so he went outside to start the vehicle to be sure the battery wasn't dead and observed a suspicious vehicle, backed in near the wood shed. He advised he observed what he believed to be a white/cream colored small jeep style vehicle with a person sitting in the driver seat and the lights were shut off. He explained a short time after he went outside to start his vehicle the jeep turned the lights on and drove away, police said in a statement released Saturday, Jan. 5.

This case remains under investigation. If anyone has any information in regards to these incidents they are encouraged to contact Vermont State Police in Rockingham.
