MANCHESTER — This season, the peonies are still blooming in The Lincoln Family Home's gardens, making it possible for visitors to view them in the waning weeks of June. Mother Nature has a way of defying all the odds when presenting her beauty, seemingly aware of the peace that can be brought to guests when they connect with gardens and the outdoors.

Currently, in a Phase 1 Opening, Hildene's days of operation are Thursday-Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when the gates close. The temporarily reduced admission rates are: adults, $15; youth, $5; and 5 and under, free. The gardens, grounds, 12 miles of trails and The Museum Store — limited to five guests at a time — are open. Other buildings, exhibits and barns remain closed, but farm animals may be observed from a distance of 6 feet from fencing.

The health and safety of the historic site's guests, staff and farm animals are paramount and all decisions regarding opening have been based on that priority and are in keeping with all state and federal recommendations and CDC guidelines.

Please find below more information and details related to the opening and COVID-19 protocols. If you'd like to get a sneak preview of the peonies go to www.hildene.org.

Additional COVID-19 protocols include observing social distancing of 6 feet or more; guests are strongly encouraged to wear masks when approaching others and are required to wear them to enter The Museum Store; and no one exhibiting signs or symptoms of respiratory illness or infection should enter. Guest check-in is at the Gatehouse drive-up window. Restroom facilities are available, but guest transportation is not at this time.

Hildene is looking forward to a Phase 2 opening in early July. For more information contact the Welcome Center at 802-367-7968 or email themuseumstore@hildene.org.
