BBA girls third at MVL track champs

BENNINGTON — The Burr and Burton girls track team finished third overall at the Marble Valley League championships held this week at Spinelli Field.

Rebecca Lelli was first in the 300 hurdles for the only individual winner on the day for the Bulldogs.

All three relays — the 4x100, the 4x400 and the 4x800 — finished second and Olivia Brand was second in both the long jump and the triple jump.

Rowan Russell was fourth in the triple jump and Lelli was fifth in the 100 hurdles.

Lilly Williams was fifth in the discus, Emma Egbert was fifth in the high jump and Amelia Kennedy was fifth in the javelin.

The boys team finished sixth overall. Winners for the boys included Andrew Toussaint in the triple jump and Will Frank in the discus.

Will Fox had three top-5 finishes, a third place in the 110 hurdles, a fourth in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the high jump. Chevaughn Brownie was third in the discus, while Toussaint picked up a third place finish in the long jump.

The relays had some success as well, with the 4x100 finishing third, the 4x400 in fourth and the 4x800 in fifth.

The Bulldogs will head to Essex for the New England qualifier and the state championships are June 1 in Burlington.
