Auditions for Dorset Players' 'Oklahoma!' next month

DORSET — The Dorset Players are holding auditions for their spring musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 6:30-9 p.m. at The Dorset Playhouse. Director and producer Suzi Dorgeloh, music director Tom Salmon, and choreographer Kelly Gaiotti will be looking for an ensemble cast including three principal women and four principal men, a large chorus, and four-to-six girls and boys, age 13 and older, all of whom will be singing and dancing throughout the show.

You may bring sheet music or digital accompaniment of a song that showcases your voice, however, Tom will be happy to select a song from the show for you to sing. Please bring sneakers or comfortable shoes as Kelly will instruct small groups in some movement and choreography. You will also read selected scenes from the show. The story is set in in a small community in the Western Indian Territory at the turn of the century. The high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story.

"Oklahoma!" is sponsored by The Wilburton Inn, r.k. Miles, Above All Vermont, Errol L. Hill Painting, Joy All Things Underthings, Spivey, Lemonik & Swenor, PC, The Barn Restaurant, and the Southern Vermont Medical Center. For more information call The Dorset Players office at 802-867-5570 from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. Monday through Friday or order tickets online now at

"Oklahoma!" is presented through special arrangement with R & H Theatricals:
