2019 Regional All-Stars Gala hockey and snowboarding
Our 2019 Regional All-Stars Gala hockey and snowboarding athletes:
-- Boys offensive player of the year: Jakub Mulac, Burr and Burton sophomore
Jakub Mulac was one the top offensive threats for BBA this past winter.
Mulac was second in goals this season for the Bulldogs with 14 tallies and he was fourth in assists with five.
He had multiple multi-score games with one of those coming in a 6-1 win against U-32, where he had two goals and an assist.
The Bulldogs finished 11-11 and lost to Colchester in the Division II quarterfinals.
-- Boys defensive player of the year: Owen King, Burr and Burton senior
Owen King was a senior leader for BBA this winter and one of three seniors on the roster.
King was a great defender for the Bulldogs and kept pressure off of BBA goalie Ethan Simonds.
He was a strong offensive threat as well, racking up four goals and four assists on the year.
King was chosen to represent BBA in the Vermont All-Star Class in March.
-- Girls offensive player of the year: Stella Turner, Burr and Burton sophomore
Stella Turner built upon a breakout freshman season with another stellar effort this past winter.
Turner scored 15 goals and had five assists in 19 games for BBA.
One of her best efforts of the year came against CVU, where she had four goals. She also had a hat trick against Missisquoi late in the season.
She was a Marble Valley League second-team selection in Tier 3 at season's end.
-- Girls defensive player of the year: Lola Herzog, Burr and Burton sophomore
In just her second season playing hockey, BBA goalie Lola Herzog continued to prove herself as one of the best goaltenders in the state.
The sophomore faced 412 shots this year and made 369 saves, good for a .895 save percentage.
She had one of her best games in a losing effort against Rice, where she made 43 saves.
BBA went 10-9-2 and lost to Woodstock in the first round of the playoffs
Herzog was a Marble Valley League second-team selection in Tier 3 at season's end.
-- Boys snowboarder of the year: Tucker Baribault, Burr and Burton freshman
Tucker Baribault was at or near the top of the podium throughout the season for the Bulldogs.
He won giant slalom and slope events at Bromley in January and February, along with a halfpipe win and second place at Okemo in two different events.
He was second overall at states after winning the slopestyle and halfpipe events.
-- Girls snowboarder of the year: Azurah Booth-Gage, Burr and Burton senior
Azurah Booth-Gage helped the Bulldogs win the state championship this season with her consistent finishes.
She was first in a pair of slopestyle events at Bromley and second in two giant slalom events at Bromley.
Overall in the final season standings, she was tied for first in slopestyle, second in giant slalom and tied for third in the halfpipe.
Booth-Gage was the winner of this award at last year's Gala as well.
