The Southern Vermont League (SVL) announced its all-league members for the 2020 cross country season.

The members chosen were voted on by athletic directors and coaches throughout the SVL.

The list was developed from the championship events that occurred on Oct. 24. For various reasons including travel restrictions or team decisions, some schools were unable to participate in the championships. Some of the additional athletes were added in recognition of their achievements over the season, since they were not able to participate directly in the championships.

Mount Anthony’s Maggie Payne, Chloe Stitcher, Bridget Beal, Kara Hester, Eden White and Ella Saccio were named to the Division A Girls all-league team.

Burr and Burton’s Jordan Jager, Liara Folley and Molly Burnham were named as additions to the Division A Girls all-league team.

“To say the least, this was a challenging season,” wrote SVL cross country liaison Todd Smith. “It began with questions of feasibility, which then morphed into how exactly we would achieve a make-shift season. With determination, perseverance, and a great amount of flexibility, we all participated in an amazing manner. It seemed every athlete was incredibly appreciative of the season.”

Mount Anthony girls defeated Rutland 33-32 at the SVL championships to take home the league title. On the boys side, Rutland took home the league title in 2020.
