SWANTON {span}— Burr and Burton girls golf won the Division I state championship on Tuesday at Champlain Country Club. It is the first time in school history that BBA girls have won the Division I title. Porter finished with 12 less strokes than South Burlington’s Sage Bennett, who placed second individually with a 95. Between Porter’s 83 and Grace McDonald’s 104, BBA took home the championship with a combined score of 187, beating out second place Champlain Valley (193) by six strokes. In Division II, Tia Martinez shot an 82. Long Trail School’s Alyssa Gallo shot a 92, good for the third best individual score in the division. Gallo was the only participating member for LTS.
