RUTLAND — BBA field hockey got back to their winning ways, defeating Rutland 2-1 on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs goals came from Abby Farrington and Katie Crabtree with an assist from Celsey McMahon.
Rutland scored first, with 2:19 left in the first quarter off the stick of Mary Sutton. That's the only goal BBA would surrender. Farrington's goal came next, in the second quarter. The winning goal from Crabtree came early in the third quarter.
BBA came out strong, dominating the pace of play early on. For much of the reminder of the game, however, it was a back-and-forth battle. BBA finally regained momentum, behind a strong defensive effort, and sealed their third win of the season.
Defensive standouts for the Bulldogs included Sam Stevenson and Lola Herzog.
Midfielders Annabelle Gray and Arden Wojtach helped BBA secure the victory with their strong play, as well.
BBA's Hannah Callen registered 11 saves. Mac Thuermer also registered a save for the Bulldogs.
With the win, BBA improves to 3-1. Next up for the Bulldogs is a home matchup on Thursday versus Woodstock at 4 p.m.
