To the Editor: Nick Condon’s commentary (Manchester Journal, Feb. 5) brought me to tears.
It tells a story of a simple encounter that shines the spotlight on the breakdown of civility in a community that should know better. It highlights the disparity but also the inexcusable entitlement, narcissism, self-absorption and callous disregard of too many.
What would I have done? Probably gone into the store, secured some change and given it to him on my way out. The tale of the "Prince and the Pauper" is forever embedded in my long-term memory cells.
