DANBY — A Mount Tabor man is dead following a single-vehicle rollover on Danby Pawlet Road on Sunday.

Vermont State Police Trooper Ryan Malmgren said Scot Rafus, 51, was driving a maroon 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer west on Danby Pawlet Road about 5:20 p.m. Sunday when he drove off the north side of the roadway and lost control. The vehicle rolled, coming to rest upside down in the westbound lane.

Rafus was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, Malmgren said in a news release. Rafus was transported by Northshire Rescue Squad to Rutland Regional Medical Center and died as a result of his injuries.

Vermont State Police were assisted at the scene by the Northshire Rescue Squad, Granville (N.Y.) Rescue Squad, Danby Volunteer Fire Department and the Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department.
