SHAFTSBURY — A Manchester man was charged with driving under the influence after a one-car rollover crash just before 11 p.m. Oct. 1 on Route 7 that left him injured, Vermont State Police said in a news release.

Police said Ty Goodrich, 27, was headed south when his car left the roadway near mile marker 18.4, struck an embankment and became airborne for "a considerable distance," according to the VSP release.

The car, a 2003 Toyota Camry, then traveled back across both lanes of travel and off the east side of the roadway before rolling over.

Goodrich, who had been wearing a seat belt, suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung and head trauma, police said.

He was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the Bennington Police Department, Bennington Rescue Squad, Shaftsbury Fire Department and Walt's Towing Service.
