DORSET -- Long Trail School reported a positive COVID-19 test result late Tuesday.

The positive test resulted in a distance learning day Wednesday for the entire school of students in middle school and high school.

The notice came via email and social media post addressed to the LTS Family from LTS Head of School Seth Linfield about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.

"We received notice tonight about a COVID-19 case within our LTS community," Linfield wrote. "We expect to receive additional information on Wednesday and will be back in touch with you tomorrow about our plans."

Linfield said the school will work to keep the school safe.

"Our unwavering promise is to keep students, faculty and staff as safe as reasonably possible," Linfield wrote. "We will keep you informed consistent with our ethical and privacy commitments to all of our community."

LTS had one other positive case right after Thanksgiving when a teacher tested positive. She quarantined without symptoms and later tested negative and was told by medical personnel it was a false positive.

The school has not reported any other cases this school year.
