WINHALL — Dawn Santos has been a fixture at the Winhall Memorial Library for more than five years.
But her time at the library is coming to an end after Santos announced recently that she was stepping down.
“It is bittersweet to announce my leaving the world of libraries,” Santos said. “Over my five years at the Winhall Memorial Library, I have made many meaningful connections with patrons and gained valuable friendships along the way. I have enjoyed my work preparing the library to sustain viability into the future.”
Santos said she’ll miss coming to work in the distinctive library.
“I will miss coming into the gorgeous red building, the smell of the books, and the smiling faces of our community members,” Santos said. “My favorite part of being a librarian was sharing my love of books. I thank my patrons for allowing me to do so.”
Santos has plans but said she wasn’t quite ready to talk about them yet as her future employer wanted to make an announcement, which should come soon.
Another part of her change is a change of address, Santos said.
“I look forward to seeing this wonderful little library flourish,” Santos said. “I also look forward to getting settled in my new home and new opportunities.”
Santos will be around for a while, so patrons have the chance to stop by for a chat. Her last day at the Winhall Memorial Library is expected to be Aug. 12 but that wasn’t firm at presstime.
“I look forward to welcoming a new librarian,” Santos said.
