NEWFANE — Vermont State Police arrested Christine Rausch, 48, of Jamaica and cited her on allegations of driving under the influence Tuesday, according to a news release.

At 6:14 p.m., a state police trooper saw an oncoming vehicle drift over the center line on Williamsville Road in Newfane, according to a Vermont State Police news release.

The Trooper caught up to the car and followed it, observing several motor vehicle violations, including speeding and marked lanes violations, according to the news release. At times, the car was nearly in the middle of the road, police said.

The trooper conducted a traffic stop and screened Rausch for suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the release.

Police said Rausch resisted arrest, but was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, first offense; negligent operation, and resisting arrest. Rausch was processed and issued a citation to appear in court March 8.
