DANBY — The Mount Tabor-Danby Historical Society will present a program on old highways the maps that show them at the next regular meeting Monday, Aug. 2.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Griffith Memorial Library, 74 South Main St. in Danby. A business meeting will be held before the program, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The program will be an illustrated presentation on using the 1869 Beers Atlas, older and newer maps, LiDAR, and other sources to locate abandoned highways and cellar holes.

Some of the old highways are nearly invisible in deep woods.

Donations will be accepted and refreshments will be served.

If you have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for more than two weeks, please wear a state-approved face covering.
