Auditions for "Nunsense II: The Second Coming."
Director, Angie Merwin, will be casting five women actors of varying ages who will also sing and dance. Mother Superior (Sister Mary Regina) is a feisty, Sophie Tucker-type who can’t resist the spotlight. Sister Mary Hubert is second-in-command and is usually competing with the Mother Superior. Sister Robert Anne is a streetwise-tough character from Brooklyn. A constant source of aggravation to the Mother Superior, Sister Mary Paul (aka Amnesia), is a nun who’s
lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head. She is a very sweet and innocent being. Sister Mary Leo is a novice, who aspires to become the first nun-ballerina and will perform a roller-skating ballet.
All songs will include physical movement and choreography. Choreographer, Kelly Gaiotti, asks that you wear comfortable loose clothing (no street shoes, but clean sneakers are okay). She will be doing some simple ballet movements and a general musical theatre/tap combo. If you have tap shoes, please bring them or a hard-sole shoe. If you can roller skate, bring your skates.
Music Director, Tom Salmon, will ask you to sing a familiar show tune. You may bring a prepared piece, if you prefer.
"Nunsense II: The Second Coming" is the sequel to the international hit "Nunsense." The same five nuns are back on stage at Mt. Saint Helen's School for what is billed as a "Thank you, Programme" for their supporters. Forced to work round the set of "The Mikado" (being presented the following week by the local music society) they decide to stick to their successful formula and present a variety show. Performance dates are May 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24. For more information, contact the Dorset Players at email@example.com or call the business office at
802-867-5570, Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
