The Community Visit Program is a way for towns to engage and bring together their residents, set common goals and directions in a neutral and facilitated structure, and access resources that will help them take action on those goals. Provided at no cost to communities, the program gets citizens engaged in working for their communities and connects them to the resources they need to be successful. The program is produced by the Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD), a non-profit organization supporting the locally defined process of Vermont's rural communities.
The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. where community members have a choice of topics that include tourism and transportation at the Manchester Fire Department, housing at the Kilburn Room at Town Hall, and downtown at the Israel Congregation Synagogue. Expanding economic opportunity, poverty, and working landscape, food and sustainability topics will begin at 4:15 at those same locations.
A free community dinner will started at 6 p.m. at the Burr and Burton Academy cafeteria. Following the dinner other topic that will be discussed involve defining authentic Manchester, opportunities in education, and arts, recreation and nightlife, all at BBA.
