Youth football team brings home the trophy

SALEM, N.Y. - Last Sunday the Manchester Youth Football team completed a three-peat by winning their third consecutive Super Bowl over the previously unbeaten Schuylerville Colts.

The Bulldogs had lost to the Colts earlier in the season, giving them their only blemish in three years.

With the Manchester faithful well represented, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but found themselves trailing 7-6 at halftime after Schuylerville returned the kickoff for a touchdown. In the third quarter the Bulldogs took the lead again but the Colts fired back quickly on a 60 yard scamper by the Colt's running back.

In the 4th quarter the Bulldogs regained the lead as Joey McCoy and Johnny Morgantini executed the option perfectly. But in the waning seconds it was the Bulldog's defense that came up big; holding the Colts on 4th and goal from the 3 yard line to seal the 18-13 victory. Game highlights included fumble recoveries by Colton White and Logan Morgan, touchdown runs by Morgantini and Logan Morgan, a touchdown pass from McCoy to Morgantini and the outstanding play of the team's hard nosed defense, which sealed the Super Bowl win with the goaline stand with 58 seconds left on the game clock.
