DORSET - Long Trail School celebrated Chinese New Year on Monday, Feb. 11. During an all-school assembly, sophomore Rocky Ye entertained and educated the school community with a presentation and video about the traditions and importance of Chinese New Year in his home country of China.

His presentation included a lot of information about 2013 and the attributes of The Year of the Snake. Being the first day of 21 German exchange students' attendance at school, it was truly an international event. Monday evening, the international students at Long Trail had a New Year's dinner including many of their favorite dishes, a Yankee swap of presents, and a lantern lighting ceremony.

Since 1988, Long Trail has hosted international students from over 25 countries. Global-mindedness is a central point of a Long Trail education; consequently, Long Trail has complemented its strong international student program with an investment in training and curriculum design to become the first International Baccalaureate World School in Vermont.
