Wounded Warriors

To the Editor:
The 2013 Vermont Wounded Warrior Golf Tournament and Banquet is less than two months away. It will, for the second year in a row, be held at the Manchester Country Club, on Sept. 18, with tee off at noon.

The tournament is limited to 33 teams with the fourth golfer in each team being a Wounded Warrior. Each Wounded Warrior plays for free and is given a beautiful jacket with logo, provided to the tournament by The Orvis Company. Also, during the tournament and banquet there will be a contingent of charming ladies from New York City, the USO/Liberty Bells. This team of dancers and singers will be back for a second year and were a major hit at last year's event.

The outpouring of logistical, material and financial support from the greater Vermont community has been nothing less than spectacular. The PlasanNorth American Corporation, of Bennington, has elected once again to be the Tournament's Title Sponsor. The Committee's goal is to raise the awareness of the plight of the Vermont Wounded Warrior. In addition, the Committee plans to donate any excess funds to the Vermont Veterans Home-Resident Fund and to the Bennington Veterans Outreach Program.

If you are interested in participating in this year's event, either as golfer or sponsor, please let Bob Stearns know at the Manchester Country Club; call 802-362-2233.
