JAMAICA - A car crash in Jamaica resulted in the death of a woman on Monday afternoon.

According to a report from the Vermont State Police, the police responded to a two car crash with entrapment on Route 30 in Jamaica - just north of the Village - around 2:43 p.m. It was reported that one of the vehicles was fully engulfed in flames.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman - now identified by police as Tressa McKinney, 20, of Windham, Vt. - was traveling southbound on Route 30 when she lost control of her 1999 Toyota Corolla and skidded across the roadway. Her car crossed over the double solid line and collided with a 1994 GMC Suburban driven by Gavin Scotti, 48, of Greenwich, Conn. in the north bound lane.

Shortly after the crash, the woman's car ignited and became engulfed by flames. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Scotti and his 14-year-old passenger were transported to Grace Cottage to be treated for minor injuries. Both were released a short time later.

Jamaica Fire, Londonderry Fire, Rescue and Winhall Police assisted with this crash.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information related to the crash is urged to contact Trooper James Matthews at the Brattleboro Barracks (802) 254-2382.
