Wilton for state treasurer
I am writing to urge support for Wendy Wilton for Vermont State Treasurer.
Since 2007 as Rutland's City Treasurer, she has turned around Rutland's fiscal problems from $5 million deficit to $3. 8 million in the black.
Through her hard work and open books philosophy she led Rutland to financial recovery. Under Wendy's leadership Rutland had the first "clean" audit in over 30 years. Wendy is also a former banker and senior business adviser.
I became acquainted with Wendy in 1998 as she was advocating for transportation issues in Rutland when I was in the legislature. I have always been impressed with how much she has the pulse of an issue and how articulate she is in getting her point across as well as her work ethic. She is a native Vermonter, and a graduate of UVM.
Wendy continues to garner endorsements from newspapers, town officials and business leaders who understand the importance of her message.
Vermont's most significant fiscal problem is the $3 billion unfunded pension liability. Our most pressing fiscal management problem is a lack of transparency for the state's finances. Imagine electing a state treasurer with a proven track record who will represent the people without bias and work to solve these problems.
Wendy's aim is to provide independence in the state treasurer's office and improve Vermont's fiscal transparency.
I as you to cast your vote for Wendy Wilton on November 6th. Vermont really yearns for her acumen.
