West Pawlet FD auction set

WEST PAWLET - The West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department auction date is approaching. It will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, at the West Pawlet Firehouse located on Route 153 in West Pawlet. The auction event begins at 6 p.m. and it does not end until all items are gone.

The auctioneer for the event will be Chriss Mars, son of the late famous Vermont auctioneer Bus Mars. Chriss Mars will use his talent of using rapid-fire, staccato calls to entice folks to purchase products. Many bargains, including assorted antiques, tools, tables, dressers, mirrors, an old school desk, knick-knacks, glassware, toys and more arrive daily and await shoppers. All of the items are available to view starting at 5 p.m. before the auction bidding action begins at 6 p.m.

The auction is a charity event in support of the West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department. The proceeds from donated items help the department's general operating costs and is also used for much-needed equipment and training programs, both for new recruits and continuing education for long-time department member volunteers. Donated items for the auction are still being accepted by the department. Those who need assistance getting items to the auction site should contact the fire department.

Food will be available for purchase and includes grilled burgers, hot dogs and French fried potatoes. Sodas and bottled water are also on the menu.
