Wantastiquet Rotary holds successful food drive

LONDONDERRY - The Wantastiquet Rotary Club, which serves Bondville, Landgrove, Peru, Jamaica, Stratton, Londonderry and Weston, conducted a successful food drive this past Saturday, Aug. 10.

Through the kindnesses and community service of the Clark Family's IGA and the generosity of its shoppers, the Rotarian Club members collected more than $1,000 worth of food for the Neighbor's Pantry to be dispensed to the needy of Windham, Bennington and parts of Windsor counties.

Additionally, several hundred dollars were collected in cash that shall be used by the Neighbor's Pantry management to supplement needed items.

The Neighbor's Pantry is overseen by Margarent Barton of Londonderry with representatives and clergy from the 2nd Congregational Church (Londonderry), the Old Parish Church (Weston), the Baptist Church (South Londonderry) and the Peru Congregational Church comprising the board. The Wantastiquet Rotary Club serves and supports a most broad range of community groups and needs.

They meet Wednesday mornings at the New American Grill in Londonderry at 7:15 a.m. For further information, contact President James "Jim" Lind, at the Chamber of Commerce at 802-825- 8178.
