VRP to hold Tutor Training Workshop

ARLINGTON - Vermont Reading Partners, a non-profit literacy program, will hold its annual Tutor Training Workshop at the Martha Canfield Library in Arlington on Tuesday's and Thursday's - Sept. 17, 19, 24, and 26 - from 1 to 4:30 p.m. each day. Candidates are expected to attend all workshop days. No previous teaching experience is necessary, only a desire to help others.

The goal of the workshop is to train volunteers to work with adults and/or children to help increase reading and writing levels. VRP covers schools from Manchester to Bennington and also includes FloodBrook in Londonderry and Currier Memorial in Danby. Adult Program tutors work with students throughout southwestern Vermont.

Adult Program students meet one on one with a tutor at the convenience of both parties. They meet privately in public location such as churches and libraries. School Program tutors are matched with students selected by the school. They meet at their school one day a week for 45 minutes to an hour either during the day or after school.

VRP's programs enhance the life of adults and children throughout southwestern Vermont.

Call 802-362-2323 or email vrp2323@sover.net with questions or to register for the free workshop. To learn more about Vermont Reading Partners visit the website at www.vemontreadingpartners.org
