UPDATE: One dead following shooting, stabbing in Danby

DANBY - A New York man involved in a shooting, stabbing incident in Danby yesterday is dead.

Aaron Allen, 28, from Hudson Falls, N.Y. succumbed to injuries stemming from a gun shot wound sustained last night on John Corey Road in Danby.

Allen was the ex-boyfriend of the injured 22-year-old female involved in the incident - whose name is being withheld per policy, as a victim of domestic violence - who is still currently being treated at Rutland Regional Medical Center and is expected to survive, according to a police report.

To date, the police investigation has revealed that Allen arrived at the residence in Danby during the early evening hours of June 16, where he attacked and stabbed his ex-girlfriend multiple times. Michael White, age 24 of Danby, who was present at the residence and is the current boyfriend of the female, witnessed the attack in progress. White subsequently discharged a rifle, of an undetermined make and caliber, striking Allen twice.

The female currently has an active restraining order from New York against Allen. Allen also has criminal charges pending in New York, involving this same female, for an incident that occurred in April 2013 for offenses including Unlawful Imprisonment.

Allen was transported to the Vermont Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy, scheduled today, to determine the cause and manner of death.

Once the investigation has been completed it will be sent to the Rutland County State's Attorney's Office for review. As the investigation is active and on-going, more information will be released as it becomes available, according to the police report.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the Vermont State Police in Rutland at 802-773-9101.
