Theft reported at Wilson House

EAST DORSET -- State Police are investigating a theft of donation money at the Wilson house in East Dorset.

The Wilson house, the former home and birthplace of Bill Wilson, a co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, serves as an inn and retreat for people in recovery, as well as a site for area AA meetings.

According to the State Police, at approximately 3 p.m. onThursday, March 13, troopers responded to a reported theft from the Wilson House. An employee told the police that someone had stolen approximately $930 out of the donation box over a span of a month and a half.

It was discovered that the suspect was removing the screws that held the top of the lock box on and replacing them after taking the money to remain undetected over the span of time.
