Tax-Aide Program seeks volunteers

BENNINGTON/MANCHESTER - The AARP/IRS Tax-Aide Program is seeking volunteers to assist the elderly and low/moderate income families in doing their personal income taxes. Training will be provided for new volunteers. First will be an introduction to the Tax-Aide Program to include step by step training on the Taxwise computer program that is used in Tax-Aide. The introduction will be conducted during November or December, 2012, (times to be scheduled as needed). Then a more formal in depth week long training program for the new volunteers and returning volunteers will be in January 2012. Tax preparation season begins in February, 2013. Volunteers will be asked to give at least four hours a week of counseling for 10 weeks.

The Tax-Aide Program is a partnership between the IRS and AARP to train and equip volunteers with the knowledge and tools to assist in the preparation of accurate personal income tax returns. Training is provided for both Federal and State income tax returns. For further information email Barth Vander Els at
