Talk on Covered Bridges planned

MANCHESTER - On Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m., Nicholas Strom-Olsen will give a presentation on the Covered Bridges of Nicholas M. Powers at the First Congregational Church in Manchester.

Strom-Olsen, the great-great-great grandson of Powers, has much to share about his nineteenth century Pittsford, Vt. ancestor.

Four Vermont covered bridges which Powers engineered are still in existence. The talk will focus on these four structures as well as other bridges and structures which the locally educated and self-taught engineer created beyond Vermont's borders.

With a nod to its own covered bridge in the downstairs dining room, The Perfect Wife Restaurant has sponsored this event on behalf of the Manchester Historical Society. The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will follow. Check for more information.
